Nokia has chosen not to make use of Android, but instead rely on their own operating systems, MeeGo, Maemo and Symbian, where especially the latter is widely used. Nokia has used a lot of money on Symbian, not only with the acquisition of the company, but also its continued development. Precisely this development, the EU will now like to support, and the EU Commission has recently, through the ARTEMIS Joint Technology Initiative (European research and development in robotics and automation), awarded Symbian 22 million in aid, or approx. 164 million dollars.
